VISITBRUSSELS
 
The mission of VISITBRUSSELS includes, among other things:
- promotion of touristic and cultural activities within the Brussels Capital Region,
- promotion and support for the organisation of local, regional, national and international events that take place in the Brussels Capital Region,
- development of promotional incentives to persuade businesses, associations, non-profit and non-governmental organisations to meet in the Brussels Capital Region.
 
Department: Press
 
The Press Department is the link between the press and VISITBRUSSELS. The job of the press department consists of supporting journalists sent by WBT and Toerisme Vlaanderen, commercial attachés, and the Press Club Brussels Europe, but also building up relations with the Belgian and foreign press so as to publicise the image of Brussels as widely as possible, inside and outside Belgium.
 
Place in the organisation
 
The Press Support Coordinator reports directly to the Press Manager.
 
Job description
 
• Developing and maintaining partnerships with Toerisme Vlaanderen, Wallonia-Brussels Tourism, commercial attachés, the Press Club Brussels Europe, and others
• Answering questions from the press and other media representatives
• Writing press releases, press files and invitations on the activities of the organisation as well as the tourist sector in Brussels
• Assembling press kits and welcome packs
• Monitoring the media results
• Preparing evaluation reports
• Organising and attending press conferences
• Distributing press releases and press invitations and loading them onto the visitbrussels.be press page
• Management of databases and planning
• Informing the press of events and initiatives
• Ongoing monitoring of current events
• Support for international press trips, possibly in collaboration with partners
• Participation in press conferences/activities of partners
• Generating ideas to attract more media attention
 
Profile

• Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written
• Trilingual: Dutch, French, English - Knowledge of any other language is a plus
• A diploma in Public Relations or experience in the field of communications and press work and/or tourism
• Familiarity with the standard software applications
• Contact and social skills
• Prepared to be called on flexibly during events and press trips
• Strong organisational skills
• Able to manage a heavy workload
• Outstanding knowledge of the national and regional media
• Able to work well under pressure
• You can deal with tight deadlines
• You are a team player, but can also complete a task independently
• Creative, with a great deal of attention to detail
